As spring graces the UK, at long last, many
people will be planning their holiday in the sunshine. Be it a newly
fashionable 'staycation' or a vacation to sunnier climates everyone loves going
on holiday. However, the preparations for a trip are always stressful, namely
the big question; what do I pack? An equally as important, but perhaps more
overlooked question this post aims to tackle is; what should I travel in?
It depends where you are going and what sort
of holiday plans you have. Travelling to the destinations, particularly with
the imminent threat of traffic jams or long haul flights, will require
comfortable and practical apparel. As celebrities make their way to their
private jets and yachts they are snapped by the paparazzi in all their finery.
Big hats, high heels, and matching luggage sets (which are of course being
pushed by their employees) are fooling us into thinking we can arrive at the
airport with a face full of make-up, our best clothes, and maybe even party
shoes.
This is not the case. If you arrive at an
airport, car, train or whichever means of transport your holiday requires made
up as you would normally be, there is no hope in you looking like that at the
other end. A flight in the stuffy aired plane, a sweaty car journey or a train
ride stood up for four hours will all result in a rather jet-lagged, make-up
smudged, wrinkled topped traveller.
Why not dress for comfort and ease for your
journey in a plain t-shirt and jeans to insure that when you reach your
destination instead of re-applying your make-up and soothing your blisters you
can unpack your clean stylish clothes from your case and step into holiday gear
the moment you arrive.
Layer
Wear layers of clothing for your journey,
this is good advice for whether you are heading somewhere warmer or colder.
During your journey you will get hot and cold and the ability to layer up or
strip off is vital to making your journey more enjoyable. A large cardigan is
great to double as a throw or blanket when you want some kip and it is easy to
wear as well so you won't be lugging an actual blanket around with you. Make
sure you have a lightweight plain t-shirt or vest which is breathable so if you
are emerging the other side into a temperate climate you are suitably kitted
out for hot weather.
Flip flops or shoes
Flip flops put you in the holiday spirit,
however on a cold plane the air conditioning is not great for your extremities,
not to mention your circulation making it harder to keep your feet warm.
Another terrible thing is dropping a suitcase on your foot, airports are
crowded and stressful places, I'd rather not take the risk. Comfortable shoes,
or maybe a chunkier sandle can give you the
Make UP
You aren't going to stop at a service
station to reapply your make-up, nor are you allowed liquid toiletries when
travelling, so opt for the fresh faced look. Make sure you have moisturised for
a glowing, fresh faced look as the air in air conditioners can dry out your
skin. If you want to feel a little made up perhaps some lip gloss or a long
lasting lip stick would give you some colour, without the chance of smudging.
Avoid eye make up because your eyes will be tired and you will probably want to
sleep at some point during the journey and make-up just makes them irritable
and creates darker bags. by amelia a blogger for www.qtag.com
